This is an original, linen-backed, one-sheet movie poster from 1948 for Superman starring Kirk Alyn, Noel Neill, Carol Forman, Tommy Bond, Pierre Watkin, and Wheeler Oakman. Spencer Gordon Bennet and Thomas Carr directed the first live-action Superman film which was released as a serial in 15 parts. This poster was printed to promote Chapter 11: Superman's Dilemma.
The poster measures 27" x 41" and has been restored and linen-backed for long-term preservation and display. The poster was in fair condition prior to restoration. It had previously been linen-backed however most of the white border and the bottom five inches of the poster had been trimmed away. Apart from the missing area, the majority of the poster was in very good condition with some surface scuffs. The poster was removed from the previous linen. The missing portion from the bottom and the white edges were expertly repaired. The poster is now in excellent, restored condition.
